2014 In Review

What a year it has been! 2014 was exceptionally good to me and I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for us. Perhaps we’ll have little Baby R by this time next year? We can only hope.. Maybe we’ll start with a puppy. Kids are kind of a lot of commitment, no?

In January we got our engagement pictures done. Just the beginning of the wedding whirlwind.

We started making new memories in our new apartment in February. Ryan and my Dad worked their butts off getting it done so we could move in on time. I’m going to say they learned A LOT about each other during this time. Lots and lots of quality time for my two favorite men.

We’ve been seeing a trend in our St Patty’s Day celebrations.. We like to celebrate away from home. In March of 2013 it was Indiana and in 2014 it was Chicago with our friends, Maria and Nick.. I wonder where 2015 will be celebrated?! St. Louis, perhaps?

In April I started my Project Life scrapbook and blogging! Both of which I love, love, love. I love it even more when my friends and family support me in this decision and actually encourage me to write.

Every year my family goes on our annual camping trip to Wisconsin Dells in May for Memorial Day weekend. Now, I’m not really the camping type. I truthfully go for the outlet mall and good food. I can’t say no to a J Crew Factory store. Or a s’more. Or spending time with my Scouty.

Speaking of shopping and s’mores, in June, Maria and I hit up the mall and the Cheesecake Factory for… Guess what? A s’more cheesecake. Ahhh!  Friend time and shopping AND s’more cheesecake. What could be better?!

As the wedding date started to get closer, I was attending more and more pre-wedding activities! Including my bridal shower in July with my best friends and family! And cake.

Oooh, and then August rolled around. It was time for the Bachelorette Party. Once again, I was in Wisconsin Dells with my best gals for booze, water slides, dancing and busted lips (that story is for another day). All in all, it was quite memorable.

And then there was sweet, sweet September. Our wedding month. I couldn’t have been more blessed with a more perfect day. From the weather to the way everything panned out, it was perfection. All of it. Not to mention I got to marry THIS guy.

Then in October I celebrated my 25th birthday low key with my husband. And he made the day special. Just like he always does. Not to mention, he gave me the BEST card I ever got (which is not posted). I will be saving that one forever.

I can’t get it to rotate. Sorry!

Now, I’m sure I’m going to get some grief from this next part.. Yes, I know Thanksgiving is about family and being thankful, and I am, but this November, I got to do Black Friday shopping in Indianapolis at NORDSTROM! That’s definitely something I need to put in my review for 2014. So, I did.

With December came Christmas. And just like that the holidays came and went. I hardly took any pictures during our Christmas activities and this is the only one I have on my phone. I say it pretty well represents the end of this year to a T. Calm, relaxed and ready for whatever 2015 has to bring.

2014 was a good year. I still have all of my loved ones with me, I married my best friend, I have the most amazing girlfriends a girl could ask for and God continues to watch over me every single day.

2014 did bring some changes, some people and problems will be left in 2014 and that’s just the way God intended it to be and I’m perfectly ok with that. I know that life changes, good things happen, bad things happen.. Every thing that God has planned, happens.

I hope in 12 months I can come back and say that I’m happy, healthy and unscathed and that I still have all my loved ones near and dear to me… But you never know. What I do know is that God is good. God is in control.. I know that He will give me the strength and grace to get through everything, no matter what the trials I face are.

Life isn’t easy, I don’t pretend that is… I just know that I’m living an extremely beautiful, blessed life because I have God in my heart and I let Him lead me through it.

I hope you all have a very wonderful New Year!

PSA.. You Can Thank Me Later

Happy Friday all my love bugs! I so hope you all had a wonderful, joy filled holiday with all of your family and loved ones. And I forgot to mention it yesterday (due to the lack of a post) but, Merry Christmas you guys!

Now that the gift giving and buying for other people is allllllll done, now, it’s time to treat yo’ self. If you haven’t already… Like I have. Whoops.

Lucky for you all, Nordstrom is having their Clearance Sale.. Which basically means lots of amazing things (for yourself) at a fabulous price. Hooray!

Let’s run through a few of my faves, shall we? I knew you’d agree.

'gramercy grand' pavé bezel bracelet watch, 38mm

THIS watch is nothing short of everything. I love, love, love this silver Kate Spade. It also comes in gold if that’s more your thing, and just so happens to be 40% off. Like I said, thank me later.

Long Sleeve Thermal Pajamas

I’m a lover of all things comfy and cute and this fits the bill. THESE PJ Salvage thermal pajamas are adorned with French Bulldogs. They also come in a variety of other patterns that may fit your personality better. Perhaps, owls are more your thing. Quite frankly, I don’t know what you’re waiting for. Buy a pair.

'Pretty Moon Dust' Hooded Jacket

THIS adorable hoodie is made by Zella. Now, I’m typically the un-official spokesperson for Lululemon ( lerve you guys!) but I’m slowly falling in love with the Zella brand. I bought a pair of their workout pants in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and they’re kind of replacing my favorite pair of Lululemon’s. Hmmm, do I sense a girl fight?

This hoodie comes in a variety of colors and I think I would just like to have one in every color… Does that seem plausible? Good.

Embellished Metallic Front Sweater (Regular & Petite)

Now, I’m throwing some “real” clothes into the mix so you guys don’t think I just sit around in comfy clothes all day, because I totally do not do that……. Ahem.

Ok, maybe I do. But if I had to actually get dressed and put something decent on, I would totally wear THIS adorable sweater. I love the dove grey and soft pink with a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of over the knee boots a la THESE. Cute, yet still comfy, real clothes.

TOMS booties

If you follow me on Instagram, you may already know that I’m in deep with my love affair with Tom…’s. TOMS shoes that is. Specifically the “desert wedge bootie.” I swear, they may be the most comfortable shoe I own. Besides Uggs. But those are more boot/slipper things, so they don’t count. THESE will have you singing hymns of praise. You can send me a size 6 as your thanks. You’re very welcome.

Double Breasted Peacoat (Juniors)

Even if you’re not in the market for a new jacket, you may just want to pick THIS one up because of the fact that it’s cute and only $28.98. And it comes in a few different colors so heck, just buy it in every color.

Simple girl math; Brooke like’s this jacket, it comes in 4 different colors and it’s under $30. Which color does she pick if she only has 5 other jackets in completely different styles at home?

All of them.

And that my friends is how my brain works when it comes to shopping. And perhaps why I sucked at math in high school. And probably why my husband hates sharing a bank account with me. #happywifehappylife #daddysaiditbest

If you have a couple of hours free today, I recommend peeking at the Nordstrom Clearnace sale. I’m sure you’ll find something that you really like that you didn’t get for Christmas.:)

**Last thing! If you’re a Nordstrom card holder, you also get double points today through tomorrow! Like I said, thank me later.**

We’re Famous.. Kind Of.

Ryan and I are just shy of 3 months of marriage.. We made it! These past few months have truly been amazing. There is no one else I would rather do life with than him. He continues to be the most amazing husband a wife could ask for. In fact, if you beg to differ, right now he’s doing the dishes and later on later on he will be grocery shopping for me and hopefully putting on the kitchen drawer handles that have been floating around the apartment for the past 8 months.. He’s the best. And this is only month three. I can’t wait to see what 3 years brings. 🙂

In November, Ryan was approached by a guy he works with to see if his wife could do a piece on our wedding for a local Southeastern Wisconsin wedding magazine she works for and helped create. Of course, we jumped at the opportunity and said, HECK YES!

She contacted me saying that our wedding was so beautiful that she would love to do a piece on it.. I was flattered. A couple weeks later I got together with a reporter for an interview and a few weeks after that they published the magazine.

I was thinking they would just do a nice article on our wedding with a few of our pictures sprinkled in to visually appease the audience and it would be in the middle of the magazine somewhere beneath a billion advertisements.

I was wrong.

We were on the front cover!! Our wedding was the feature! I could hardly believe it! I was ecstatic to see my husband and I on the cover! Like, what?! This doesn’t happen in real life!! Oh, but it did!

I’m truly grateful and flattered that one of our wedding guests thought of us to be featured for this magazine. Having a article written about our wedding was never in the back of my mind during the planning process but it just proves that all the hard work my Mom, Mother-in-Law and I put into this extremely special day paid off. God is extremely good and I am just so thankful we got the opportunity to do this!
