It sure has been some time since I’ve talked about my favorite beauty items. I’ve accumulated quite the collection of some really good products that I think you should all hear about because I am looooving them something fierce. For once in my life I’m feeling pretty content in this area.
I have rather oily skin, I prefer a matte look a over a dewy one for very obvious reasons – I don’t want to look like a disco ball half-way through the day. I also am not a fan of touching up my makeup throughout the day.
The other week when I was at Ulta, I was checking out their Tarte Amazonian Clay finishing powder since I heard rave reviews about the stuff, I just wasn’t looking to spend upwards of $35 for powder that day. So, I headed over to the NYX area where I found this little gem for $8.99. Total score on my behalf.
The powder is very finely milled, you don’t need too much to cover an area and I don’t recommend using it all over the face because it does make you look very, very, matte. To avoid that, lightly dust it on your forehead, nose and chin. If you have a problem with your mascara or eyeliner slipping (accentuating dark circles under your eyes), I would recommend taking a clean brush ( I love THIS one) and tapping just a bit on top of your concealer. It will set your concealer and further prevent your mascara and eyeliner to run.
Oh how I love, love, love this color! I took the recommendation from Megan at Holy City Chic. I knew she was a fan of the color and without seeing it in person, I took a leap of faith and blindly ordered it from Nordstrom. We all know how different colors show up on a computer screen and in real life. Online it looks like a soft, muted mauve-nude-purple. In real life it’s quite rosey-pink but not your grandma’s rosey-pink. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty scared when I opened up the tube and I saw the color. But thankfully, the Chanel gods know how to finely craft a beautiful pink.
I cannot say enough great things about this lipstick. The color works beautifully on all skin tones and would especially be great for a spring or summer bride. If I’m looking for a little shine, I usually top mine off with a little bit of the Chanel Glossimer lip gloss in Seashell – a great combo!
One more point to make about this lipstick, my husband actually likes it on me. He’s not a major fan of anything besides chapstick on my lips but he actually complimented me on this color which immediately made it a keeper.
I purchased this literally five minutes after I just told myself I’m not allowed to buy any more lip gloss this year. Clearly, I have wonderful self-discipline skills. Or not. But that’s neither here nor there so we’re moving along now….
I have to say that I’m so glad I didn’t listen to the voice inside my head telling me I already have enough lip gloss. Who is she anyway? This stuff is LOVE with all caps! The color is a pinky-plum and when I put it on, it looks like my natural lip color, but better and just a tad darker. And shinier. Because, gloss.
This lip gloss is not sticky and has a lovely, chemical-mint smell (like it smelled like chemicals but the people at UD tried to cover it up with mint…). It doesn’t bother me enough to say it’s a no-go. Because I love it and it has taken the place of my chapstick because it is that nourishing. It doesn’t leave my lips crumbly like some lip glosses do. I hope that makes sense. It’s like when you put lip gloss on and it almost exfoliates your lips but it leaves the chunks behind…. You probably all think I have lost my dang mind but I swear that happens with some of my MAC lip glosses.
I really can’t wait to try the other colors in this line, which will be soon because I can not stop putting this stuff on. The creamy texture is so addicting! The color I have is Beso and looks way darker online than it is in person, just so you all know. I think I’m going to try out Walk of Shame next!
**Update: As of 1 pm central today, I am now the owner of Walk of Shame. Which is equally as satisfying.**
Girls, this is hands down the BEST eyeliner there ever was. It’s nothing short of amazing and I want to order 70 sticks of the color Hustle out of fear that they may stop selling it someday. It’s the perfect bronzey-gold color to add a little contrast to your eye lid and to make your lash line look fuller. The staying power is unmatched and it just glides on like butter. Eeeek, just talking about it makes me giddy. How weird am I?
With my fair skin and blonde hair, a lot of times darker colors can look very stark and noticeable and perhaps a bit too
dramatic gothic. I’ve started going for more brown and pewter tones and completely ditching the black unless I need it for a dramatic night time look (which is never, nowadays). I love the softer, more natural look it gives my eyes and I’ve already picked up the color Mushroom and Mildew. Cute names, huh?
I really feel like I’m hitting the makeup jackpot these days, everything I put my hands on seems to turn to gold. And I am not complaining!
I found a few un-opened bottles of this stuff in a box while I was cleaning the other day. I must’ve bought them when one of the stores was having one of their infrequent cosmetic sales and stocked up a bit and then TOTALLY forgot about them. Great idea to forget about a $45 bottle of foundation, eh? The good news I found them and the even better news is that I love them.
This foundation comes in a number of shades and the coverage is excellent. It will cover just enough yet still look like your natural skin. It keeps me pretty matte throughout the day and it never looks cakey. I’m super impressed with this formula and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new foundation.
